Sails on the Dee

Sails on the Dee – I’ve been out and in this neck of the woods nigh on seven years and for my sins I’ve never seen sails on the River Dee north of the marina in all that time – apart from the annual charity sail-through

Today was a first —

Ok – that was just for starters. I caught a few more sails in this next shot —

Looks like a lot of water but at low tide the flow is down to a trickle – particularly when the upriver hydro-dam is holding water back —

So it hasn’t been a wasted night in the Masonic. I met the master of the Fredwood tonight. That’s the old wooden fishing boat moored over there by the quay wall and I have been promised a trip out to the Irish Sea end of the estuary where they are building a queenie-shell reef off Ross Island.

That is one trip I’m looking forward to —
