‘A’ is for the A-Team

28 Apr

While the larger vessels of the Kirkcubright based King fleet brave the stormy waters around Orkney and Shetland Isles in their quest to bring fresh scallops and queenies to the discerning palates comfortably seated at European dinner tables –

another local fleet – the A-Team consisting of the —

Argosy —

Academus —

Aztec —

and the Argonaut line the harbour wall while storms rage in the west of Scotland —

Arcturus – the latest addition to the ‘A’ Team —

is being fitted out at the harbour wall —

and the blue capped wheelhouse of the tiny Argo shellfish suction dredge can be seen through the gear and railings of the two bigger boats if you squint hard enough —

while again on the outside is the visiting Vikingborg —

and as ever – the spick n span Susan Bird at the head of the line —

Quite a fleet for the wee town of Kirkcudbright which has – over the years become an important member of the remaining eight working fishing ports in Scotland 🙂
