She’s a Bitch – with a capital ‘B’
After what seems like weeks of warnings from the weather forecasters Babs arrived with a good blow – so good in fact she has stopped the ferries – so no more Christmas Mail and no last-minute shopping trips to the mainland. That’s the good news – the bad news is she has almost collapsed a few of the Daleks I enlisted to protect our recently planted fruit trees from the marauding roe deer.
No worries – gives me a good excuse to get the tools out and do something. With ferries cancelled due to the stormy weather It was a case of nipping across the island and nicking a few scraps of wood from my son’s building site for reinforcing purposes.
Scarba was lost in the hail – sleet and snow at the bottom of the pond but with winds topping out around 75 mph I was able to get on with the job.
Not for long – one mighty gust well off the Richter Scale cleared everything that wasn’t nailed or tied down over the wall into my neighbour’s more sheltered garden.
I’m sure I will have found all my pots by the time he comes back from Barcelona – bet Babs doesn’t bother them down on the Med.
Job done — time to clear up —
and button up —
before heading indoors to check out the Christmas Cake under it’s new dusting of icing sugar —
Easily seen – we have no draughts in this house – in fact – I’m surprised it wasn’t blown away in a puff of sugary dust the minute I opened the kitchen door.
It’s amazing what a nicely warmed Original Series Stellenbosch South African red can do for you powers of recovery 🙂
Merry Christmas everyone – from Helen & Donald at a wet and windy Bardrishaig xx
