Two degrees early morning temperature is quite cold on the pinkies when you don’t have heated grips —

That’s better – a sensible rider will park in the sun and thaw out when taking his photos —

especially when he is looking at his young brother’s favourite mountain at Auch —

John was shepherd on these steep slopes many years ago – he is gone now but not forgotten as I remember stalking a herd of red deer with him up there one day. A hind was trailing a leg and couldn’t keep up with her mates – we got close and a single rifle shot put her out of her misery – closer inspection showed a damaged hoof had turned rotten and she was down to skin and bone —

I should be pleased it wasn’t the rough brute of a hill next to it that the deer were on – that looks like a tough day out —

Up over the Black Mount next – and time for another pic looking all the way to Schiehallion near Aberfeldy —

Then it was back amongst the traffic as the road to Glencoe is always busy —

To think I used to spend my days off between Christmas and New Year climbing these fellas – at least when they are covered with snow there are no midgies to drive a chap crazy —
