Tiger in the Long Grass —

Nah – it’s just our Seamus resting up amongst the weeds in the flower bed —

While enjoying the sweet aroma from the abundance of honeysuckle laced through the big hedge that I have been trimming back further down the garden earlier today —

Thankfully rain stopped play before I got around to cutting the grass before dinner — there’s always another day 🤠 —

Exploring bv Bicycle –

is a whole new ball game —

You don’t have to cycle far initially while building up the legs and what better place to stop on the way home than by the White Church —

Why stop at two windows down the side when you can have three —

Lop off a bit of the spire and you can have all four windows and a gable end for the same price —

Plus views down river and the knowledge that all the comforts of home are within a couple of hundred yards or so —

Magic! 😎

Knee Cries Enough —

With a long term wonky right knee and now that the left is going the same way – walking is becoming more of a pain filled business than ever —

Just as well I kept my far travelled – twenty seven years old alloy Raleigh Maxim hybrid bicycle then.

I put some air in the tyres and took her out for a spin this morning by the River Earn – before my old ‘chicken legs’ give up altogether —

Magic! 😎

Long Haul No More —

With the air industry in a mess since the pandemic – my daughter has swapped her snazzy British Airways stewardess uniform for nurses gear —

BA’s loss is the NHS’s gain 🤠

Abernethy Means More than Biscuits —

Took a spin on the X-ADV750 yesterday – down to the Suzuki dealer in Fife on the hunt for a pair of summer gloves —

A detour into the old quarter of Abernethy saw me parked by the war memorial across from the McClootie Dumplin shop —

Half an hour later – with a tasty scone and black coffee in the sun under my belt – I was back on the main road to Cupar where I found the perfect pair of Extra Large X3 summer riding gloves for my shovel sized mitts.

All told I managed to pack in an interesting trip of mainly back roads plus a detour over the Tay Bridge and through Dundee – of about 140 miles on a bright but blustery day – nice one 😎

My Bonnie Barnsley Lass —

Born in Barnsley – schooled in Bahrain and Devon – learned top-end furniture design with Sir Gordon Russell at Broadway in the Cotswolds before returning to Devon to bring up her young family and later emigrating north to Scotland —

Now what does this busy lady with the well -rounded persona do now? As well as being married to me and producing beautiful paintings she markets single malt whiskies in Oban two days a week.

It’s a case of c’mon Donald — Keep Up!

Aldi Greenhouse —

Well worth the fifty quid it cost two years ago —

Green fingers Helen has successfully started off and grown such a lot of plants in there —

Going into it’s third summer it continues to give good service although the door zips have given way this year.

To be fair – when we put it’s approx 250 component parts together my thoughts were – ‘I’ll give it six months’ 🤠

Azaleas Doing Well —

The three azaleas I bought for our previous home on the Isle of Luing and planted in half-barrels where they did ok but nothing spectacular – exposed as they were to regular gales off the Atlantic – are now enjoying life transplanted direct into the soil in the shelter of our boundary hedge here in Comrie —-

This will be our third summer here and they appear to be thriving although we are having a constant battle with the villainous ground elder down that side of the garden 😠
