Loki Puts the Pressure On —

‘Do you want to play hide n seek dad?’
‘I can tell you’re finished cutting the hedges’
‘aw-w da-ad’
‘what d’ye mean the seat needs a lick o’paint’
‘Surely that kin wait’
Aw-w-ww – da-ad’!

One Man and His Dog —

On the shores of a cold Loch Earn earlier this year —

before the hordes of fisher folk took over for the summer — 🙄

A Bright Start to The Day —

Helen put this together as a feeder in an exercise when working with collage and was about to rip it apart again when I spotted it —

Now – after a bit of persuasion on my part she is looking for a simple frame for it – ‘oi likes it’ 🤠

Day Off —

Had a few hours off today – so what better than to disappear over the horizon on the X-ADV750 —

and enjoy the Twisties —
150 windswept miles of sheer bliss – Magic!

No Show Without Punch —

It was a spur of the moment decision to head over to Bridge of Earn area with Helen this morning —

Just a couple of weeks ago by using an ordnance survey map I bought over sixty years ago for a motorcycle rally run by the Dunblane Motor Club – I had found the farm – Elliothead – on the banks of the River Earn between Bridge of Earn and the River Tay estuary —

It was to be one of the many farm jobs my father picked up as he moved mum – myself and two older brothers from farm to farm up and down the east of Scotland in search of that elusive place that felt like home after four years at the sharp end in World War 2 —

It was 1950 – I was 8 years old – I had lived in eleven homes and Bridge of Earn was my fourth school in those years —

I rolled into Elliothead farmyard on my X-ADV750 a couple of weeks ago – introduced myself and chatted to the current farmer who had been born there five years after I had moved on.

This trip I wanted to show Helen another one of the twenty farms where I had lived – however briefly – until I had left the family home at the age of eighteen —

No that’s not my former home – nor is the one behind it – Elcho Castle on the south bank of the River Tay estuary less than a couple of miles east of Friarton Bridge on the Perth By-pass —

But it’s where we spent a happy couple of hours exploring today —

Seventy two years since my boyhood spell around here and I’m still opening gates —

and imagining what it would be like to pull our shallow draft – gaff rigged sailing boat – the Hede – into the landing on the creek below the castle —

Dream on Don —
But what a lovely day out – Magic!

The Fair Maid of Perth —

On an away day to Elcho Castle —

Waiting for her boat to come in at the overgrown castle jetty —
but the best offer she could get was pillion on a jet ski to Dundee —
So it was back to the Tower for her —
with not much in the way of heating —
except for the outhouse which looks quite weathertight 👍

Energy to Spare —

Perhaps I should make a habit of having lunch instead of dinner as I have energy to spare this evening —

I can’t walk without serious pain with my worn out knees and I have decided to get the old Raleigh down from it’s pegs in the garage and have refurned to cvcling —-
I think this is my fifth consecutive day of the new regime – as I build up the miles the old muscles are responding and what I need now is patience and a bit more puff 😎
From a shaky start I’m going a little further every day — Magic!

Silver Jubilee Barbie …

A bit like the Jubilee Party on the telly yesterday –

it didn’t really get going in Scotland —
but the French —
and the lady from Yorkshire —
didn’t let it go past without joining in —
While well assisted by a nice glass of Prosseco Chambord —
m’lady gave it her best shot 🥳
Ofcourse it takes two to tango —
especially when there’s pudding and someone handy with a blowtorch around —
It IS the month of June after all – strawberries and cream with roasted marsh mallows were a must —
MAGIC!
